Open Settings → Avatar → Memory history, then choose Import. This adds supported memory records to your account’s local memory. It is not a live connection to another assistant, and it does not transfer an entire account or every conversation.
Choose a source
The picker includes ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, Hermes Agent, Perplexity, Gemini, and JSON. The named options provide an export prompt to copy into that service yourself. They do not sign in or fetch your information automatically.
Use JSON for a supported structured export, including an Anistratenco memory JSON export. A Markdown memory export is for reading; it is not accepted by this importer.
Prepare the export
For a named source, use Preview prompt to inspect the request and copy it into the service where your information already exists. Review its reply before bringing it back. Another assistant may omit information or summarize it incorrectly.
The current built-in provider prompt is incomplete: the importer also needs records to identify whether information is about you or family history. A reply that follows the prompt can still be rejected. If you see that error, do not repeatedly import the same reply. Use a compatible Anistratenco JSON export, add a few memories manually, or contact support for help.
Paste or load JSON
Paste the structured JSON into the import field, or load a JSON file where the source screen offers that option. The app checks the content and shows a preview or an error. Pasting content does not complete the import.
Plain text, Markdown, PDF files, and complete account-export archives are not accepted as memory imports here. Use Add memory for a short note you want to enter yourself.
Read the preview
Check the counts before you continue:
- New records are candidates to add.
- Duplicate records are skipped.
- Needs review means a record conflicts with existing memory and will be imported with that conflict preserved. It is not automatically corrected.
- The import button’s count is the number that will be added after duplicate handling.
Only the first five entries are shown in the preview. The importer processes at most 128 memories per batch. Review the complete source export before proceeding; the preview is not a full checklist of every item.
There is no per-entry selection control in this import preview. If it contains something you do not want to add, change the source export or use a smaller, reviewed batch before importing.
Import and check the result
Choose Import memories or the button showing the number ready to import. Wait for the result. The button is unavailable when there is no valid preview or nothing new to commit.
After success, return to What Chat remembers and inspect the added information. Use the Conflicts filter and memory review controls for anything that needs attention.
An import saves memory records; it does not certify them as accurate or guarantee that all devices have synchronized immediately. Check Devices & sync for cross-device status.
If an import does not work
- Cannot parse JSON: the content is not in a format the importer can read. Use the raw structured export, without surrounding prose.
- No importable entries: the file may be valid JSON but not a supported memory export.
- Whose information is missing: the records do not distinguish your information from family history. The source export needs correction.
- Already imported: no new records were added.
- Could not be saved: keep your original export and use the displayed error or support reference when contacting us.
Do not send the full export to support by default. It may contain sensitive health and personal information.
